今日昼ごはんをUMEXの会員と一緒に食べた。UMEXはうおぬま国際交流協会です。ここでUMEXにつて見つける。
Scavenger Hunt スケヴェンジャーハント
This is another game similar to Stamp Rally. But, the hunt places are located both in-campus and off-campus. You need a car to drive around the city to go the places and find the answer. The places are around Urasa, Koide and Muikamachi.
Fun, of course! There are about 8 groups of 10-11 people. Guess what? My group (Group 4) won the competition. Each one of us was rewarded with IUJ T-shirt. I will post the photo of the T-shirt tomorrow.
このゲームはStamp Rallyと少し同じだと思ったが、違うのは場所は大学以内と大学に近い町。車でその場所へ行って答えを見つけるのは必要です。場所は浦佐、こいで、六日町。
楽しかった！グルプは八つあります。グルプに人が１０－１１人います。僕のグルプ（グルプ４）は勝った。国際大学のT-シャツをもらった。明日T-シャツの写真を書き込みしようと思っている。
Orientation is over finally! オリエンテーショオンは結局終わった
Orientation is finally over! Tomorrow the school term starts! Life is geting busier here... I am taking 6 modules in total (5 core MBA course + 1 Intermediate Japanese class). I am waiting for a waiver for Financial Accounting module. I have just taken ACCA Paper F3 in June 2008. I hope I can get a waiver on this module.

IUJ Welcome Day 国際大学の入学式
Today is the IUJ Welcome Day. All new students gets together in the Gymnasium. This is something like the entrance ceremony to the school.
It is a great day. I got to meet a lot of people, from the IUJ Chairman, IUJ President, and lots of students from many different countries. There are people from Uzbezkistan, Kazakhstan , Kyrgyzstan, Nigeria, Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, USA, Canada, etc. A total of over 40 countries are represented. I can't believe it!
There is even a Guiness Book of World Record about IUJ "Most nationalities (50) in a sauna bath". It is amazing. Read it more here.
I wonder where else in the world has such a multi-cultural settings?

On this day, I will be at Tokyo having my CFA Exam Level 1. I just registered for the exam this morning before the first deadline (24 Sep 2008). Those who registered before the first deadline can get a discount. It is quite expensive (USD 990), not including my round-trip shikansen (about USD 150) to Tokyo. I think I have to be at Tokyo one day earlier. It will incur accomodation cost. For the cost, I believe God will provide when the time is ripe.
It is tough, juggling between MBA courses, Japanese courses and this CFA. Will do my best.

Walking from IUJ to Urasa station 国際大学から浦佐駅まで歩く
It is getting colder and colder day by day. Today is a public holiday. The bus didn't operate. This morning at about 8 am, I walked from IUJ to Urasa station. While walking, I took pictures. It took me one and a half hour to reach Urasa. After reaching Urasa, I went to the convenient store near the station and bought two onigiri. After that, I walked back to the school while eating the onigiri. It was very tiring, but very enjoyable.
一日一日と寒くなってきた。今日は祝日なので、バスが来なかった。今朝八時に国際大学から浦佐駅まで歩いた。歩きながら、写真を取った。一時間半ぐらいかかった。浦佐駅に着いた後で、駅に近いコンビニでお握りを二つ買った。そして、大学へ歩きながら、お握りを食べて戻った。とても疲れたが、楽しかった。

Stamp Rally! スタムポれーり
Today, we had a campus life orientation in the morning, followed by Alien Certification Registration. After the registration, I went to Musashi (near Urasa) to buy some daily needs (laundry basket, cookery, etc).
The fun part was in the late afternoon. We had a game. They called in Stamp Rally. New students are grouped in a group of 8 and we were required to go around the campus to get a stamp at certain locations, to answer questions listed on the sheet, etc. It reminds me of SilkAir Treasure Hunt, one of the event that my Social Committee organized when I was still in SilkAir.
今朝キャンパスライフオリエンテーションがあって、外国人登録証を申し込んだ。登録証の後で、むさしというホームセンターへ日用品を買い物しにいった。
楽しい事はその後です。ゲームが遊んだ。スタムポれーりと言われた。新入生がグループにされた。それから、キャンパスの回りへ走したり、スタムプをもらったり、紙の上の問題を答えなければならない、シルクエアーのTREASURE HUNTのイベントが覚えさせられた。そのイベントをシルクエアーで働く時に僕たちはオルガナイズした。

This is my first thing that I bought when I reached my campus a few days ago. This is a chocolate bread spread. It tastes like "Crumpy", the similar product from Singapore. But, I think this one is more expensive (308 yen).
I bought it from the supermarket near Urasa station.
これは国際大学に着いて初めての買い物。チョコレートジャム。クラムピというジャムと同じだそう。これは高いより（３０８円）。

Third Day in IUJ 国際大学にいる第三日
It is raining now. The weather is cool. Today is my third day in my campus. Still settling down.
This morning, the Indonesian community had a gathering to distribute the used utensils, cookery, anything to the new students.
I got a plate, a bowl, a cup, a knife, fork, tea pot, etc. The good thing is "It is FREE!"

雨がポツポツ降ってきたので、涼しい。今日は国際大学にいる第三日。まだ住み着いてる。今朝インドネシア人が犇めき合って、新入生に古物を上げた。
僕は皿、碗、カップ、ナイフ、フォーク、ティーポットが貰った。いい事は全部無料。

Second Day in IUJ 国際大学にいる第二日
Today is my second day in IUJ. I am still settling down. This morning, I went to JUSCO (a shopping center near Muikamachi) for some shoppings. It is about 30 minute drive. I took a bus from IUJ. I finally bought a bolster there. ^_^ So happy!
There are a lot of Indonesians here., about 20 are new students. So, is IUJ = Indonesian University of Japan? ^_^
In the evening, I attended the career counselling workshop. It gave an introduction to job and internship hunting in IUJ.
Most senior students do the cooking in the dormitory. I should start doing the same thing in the next few weeks. Eating canteen food can be quite sick (the variation is not a lot).
Japanese Language Placement test is coming (25 Sep) and I am aiming to sit for the Intermediate Level. Okay, I must study hard!
今日は僕の国際大学にいる第二日。住み着いてる。今朝、六日町に近いジャスコというショッピングセンターへ買い物しに行った。国際大学からバスで三十分ぐらいかかる。あそこで結局枕が見つけた。嬉しい。
午後五時に就職指導ワークショップへ行った。ワークショップは仕事とインターンシップを探すことについて説明された。
先輩は寮の台所で料理をよく作るので、僕も来週から料理を作ることにする。食堂で食べるのはちょっと詰まらない。

Travelling Alone in Tokyo: Day 3 東京の一人旅：第三日
The places that I went today are Tsukiji, Ginza and Roppongi.
Yesteday night, I slept quite late. This morning, I overslept again. After eating breakfast, at about 10am, I went to Tsukiji Central Market. When I reached there, the auction sale was already over. But, I could still enter the place. I left the place as it was going to rain. I went to Ginza for lunch. I have been to Ginza before. Two years ago, on a tour package, I went there to have lunch at a restaurant called Hanamasa. This afternoon, I had lunch there also. I can't believe that I can find the same restaurant. It was really a strange coincidence. The restaurant is a buffet style restaurant (all you can eat). It costs 1200 yen for an adult. I think it is quite affordable for a buffet style.
After having lunch, I shopped at the shop near the restaurant. I bought a travel bag and a pair of sport shoes. Compared to Singapore, it is a "little bit" more expensive. I returned to hotel to put my things. After arranging things and resting for a while, I went to Roppongi. Roppongi Hills is a popular and nice place. I like Roppongi the most! Even though the admission free is a bit expensive (2000 yen), Tokyo City View is a wonderful and must-see view. You have to go to 53rd floor to enjoy the spectacular view. I also went to Sky Aquarium II and took a lot of photos (fish photos).. ^_^
As for dinner, I went to the restaurant near my hotel. I ate Katsudon (650 yen).
Tokyo is interesting. Today is my last day in Tokyo. Tomorrow, I have to go to my campus. I look forward to the new experience there.

今日行った所は築地、銀座、六本木。
昨日の夜遅く寝たから、今朝寝坊しちゃった。早く朝ごはんを食べてから、十時に築地売り場へ見物しに行った。着いた後で、競り売りもう終わったが、入れた。雨が降って着たから、早く築地を出た。そして、銀座へ昼ごはんを食べに行った。銀座へも行ったことがある。二年前に、ツアーと一緒に銀座のハナマサというレストランで食事した。今日もそこで食事した。信じられない。同じレストランが見つけれる。本当に奇縁と思う。ファイキングなので。焼き物が何でも食べてもいい。料金は大人：１２００円。ファイキングにとって安いと思う。
昼ごはんを食べた後で、レストランの近い店で買い物した。旅行鞄とスポツ靴を買った。シンガールに比べて、ちょっと高そうと思う。それから、ホテルに買い物を置きに戻った。物を片付けて、ちょっと休んでから、六本木へ行った。六本木ヒールはきれいで有名な所。僕は六本木が大好き。入場料はちょっと高そうと思うが（２０００円）、東京シティビューは凄い。５３階へ行かなければならなかったら、凄いビューが見える。スカイアクアリウムへも行って、魚の写真をたくさん取った。
晩御飯はホテルの近いレストランでカツ丼を食べた（６５０円）。
東京は面白いね！今日は東京の最後の日。明日は国際大学へ行かなければならない。新しい経験を楽しみにする。

Travelling Alone in Tokyo: Day 2 東京の一人旅：第二日
This morning, I overslept. I woke up at about 9am. After that, I took a bath, ate breakfast and left hotel. Today, the places that I plan to go are Asakusa, Omote Sando, Harajuku, Shinjuku.
I have been to Asakusa before. In year 2006, I went there with a tour. Now, I went there alone. The feeling is different. This morning, I also went to Nakamise shopping street, Asakusa sensooji jinja, Sumida Gawa. I had my lunch somewhere in Asakusa (490 yen).
After lunch, I headed to Omote Sando. I went to the famous Omote Sando Hill. Then, I also went to Meiji-jingumae station. This station is near to Harajuku station. I took a stroll in Meiji-jingu Park, had an ice cream at the cafeteria, went to Takeshita street (Harajuku).
At about 5pm, I went to Shinjuku. Very crowded but interesting place. For dinner, I ate ramen (700 yen). I went to one of the stores in Shinjuku, tried the winter coat. I think it is very nice, but it is too expensive. Thus, I decided not to buy.
At about 8pm, I went back to hotel. I travelled the whole day today. Extremely tired...

今朝寝坊しちゃった。九時ごろに起きた。その後、シャワーを浴びて、朝ごはんを食べて、ホテルを出た。今日の行こうと思ってる所はあさくさ、おもてさんど、はらじゅく、しんじゅく。
あさくさへ行ったことがある。２００６年にツアーと一緒に行ったが、今は一人旅なので、気持ちがちょっと違うそう。なかみせどりショッピング街、あさくさせんそうじ神社、すみだ川へ行った。昼ごはんはあさくさの近所で食べた（４９０円）。
昼ごはんの後で、おもてさんどへ行った。有名なおもてさんどヒールと言うショッピングセンターへ行った。そして、めいじじんぐまえの駅へ行った。めいじじんぐまえ駅ははらじゅく駅にちかい。めいじじんぐ公園を散歩したり、喫茶店でアイスクリームを食べたり、たけしたどりへ行ったりした。
五時ごろに新宿へ行った。にぎやかが面白い所と思う。晩御飯はラメン（７００円）。新宿のお店に入って、冬のコートーを着て見た。かっこいいと思うが、ちょっと高いので、買わないことにした。
八時にホテルを帰った。今日は一日中旅行なので、とても疲れた。
I have been to Asakusa before. In year 2006, I went there with a tour. Now, I went there alone. The feeling is different. This morning, I also went to Nakamise shopping street, Asakusa sensooji jinja, Sumida Gawa. I had my lunch somewhere in Asakusa (490 yen).
After lunch, I headed to Omote Sando. I went to the famous Omote Sando Hill. Then, I also went to Meiji-jingumae station. This station is near to Harajuku station. I took a stroll in Meiji-jingu Park, had an ice cream at the cafeteria, went to Takeshita street (Harajuku).
At about 5pm, I went to Shinjuku. Very crowded but interesting place. For dinner, I ate ramen (700 yen). I went to one of the stores in Shinjuku, tried the winter coat. I think it is very nice, but it is too expensive. Thus, I decided not to buy.
At about 8pm, I went back to hotel. I travelled the whole day today. Extremely tired...

Shinjuku今朝寝坊しちゃった。九時ごろに起きた。その後、シャワーを浴びて、朝ごはんを食べて、ホテルを出た。今日の行こうと思ってる所はあさくさ、おもてさんど、はらじゅく、しんじゅく。
あさくさへ行ったことがある。２００６年にツアーと一緒に行ったが、今は一人旅なので、気持ちがちょっと違うそう。なかみせどりショッピング街、あさくさせんそうじ神社、すみだ川へ行った。昼ごはんはあさくさの近所で食べた（４９０円）。
昼ごはんの後で、おもてさんどへ行った。有名なおもてさんどヒールと言うショッピングセンターへ行った。そして、めいじじんぐまえの駅へ行った。めいじじんぐまえ駅ははらじゅく駅にちかい。めいじじんぐ公園を散歩したり、喫茶店でアイスクリームを食べたり、たけしたどりへ行ったりした。
五時ごろに新宿へ行った。にぎやかが面白い所と思う。晩御飯はラメン（７００円）。新宿のお店に入って、冬のコートーを着て見た。かっこいいと思うが、ちょっと高いので、買わないことにした。
八時にホテルを帰った。今日は一日中旅行なので、とても疲れた。

Travelling Alone in Tokyo: Day 1 東京の一人旅：第一日
After arriving at Narita Airport, I went to ANA Skyporter Home Baggage Delivery counter to send my luggage. I have two luggages, but since I have one free coupon, I only need to pay for the other one. It costs 1,530 yen. They will send to my campus for me.
After that, I bought a set of Keisei Skyliner ticket and Tokyo Metro 2-day Open Ticket (2,480 yen), and then went to Ueno. After arriving at Ueno at about 10 am, I went to Cube Hotel Ueno Express. I made the booking from Singapore via website last time. Since the check-in time is from 3pm onwards, I was unable to check-in. I left my hand-carry bag at the concierge because it is just too heavy to carry around.
Then, I walked around Ueno area, went to Ameyoko shopping district, strolled around Ueno park, took a lot of photos there. For lunch, I ate curry rice (500 yen). I heard from my friend that everything is expensive in Japan. But I disagree. I think food is not expensive in Japan, about the same as in Singapore.
I returned back to the hotel at about 3pm. I took a bath, slept for 3o mins, unpacked luggage, etc.
At 4pm, I went to Akihabara to buy something: camera bag and tripod. For dinner, I ate Gyoza + Ramen. It costs 600 yen in total (isn't it cheap?). After having dinner, I went back straight to hotel because I am so tired... zzz.

成田空港に着いた後で、荷物宅配のANAクカイポーターカウンタへ荷物を送るために行った。荷物は二つあるが、無料のクポンが一枚があるので、荷物は一つだけ払うことが必要。料金は１５３０円。国際大学から送ってくれた。
その後、京成スカイライナー券と東京メトロ二日票乗車券のセット（２，４８０円）を買って、上野へ行った。十二ごろに上野に着いてから、「キューブホテル 上野エクスプレス」というホテルへ行った。シンガールからウェブサイトで予約をしておいた。チェックインタイムは三時からなので、チェックインしては行けない。携える荷物が重過ぎるそうから、そのままホテルで置いた。
それから、上野の近所を見物して、アメ横というショッピング街へ行って、上野公園をちょっと散歩した。写真をたくさん取った。昼ごはんはカレーライス（５００円）を食べた。友達の話では、日本は物価が高いそうだったが、食べ物が高くなさそうと思う。シンガポールと同じと思う。
三時ごろにホテルにチェックインのために戻った。シャワーを浴びたり、三十分ぐらい休んだり、荷解きしたりした。
四時に秋葉原へ買い物しに行った。カメラ鞄やTRIPODなど買った。晩御飯はラメンと餃子。全部６００円。安いそうと思った。晩御飯の後、疲れたからホテルに戻った。

Goodbye, everyone! さようなら、皆さん！
I will be leaving Singapore in less than 24 hours. Sad leaving my friends here, worried about the uncertainties in the future, excited for the new challenges.
I will leave it to God as He has already given me such a gifted way. I will walk down the path along with Him.

Goodbye, Mum & Dad! さようなら、お母さん、お父さん！
I just came back from airport seeing my parents off to Jakarta. They came to Singapore last month and stayed for about one month. My mother likes to cook, so she cooked delicious meals for me everyday. My father likes to go to park for jogging, so he went to Mount Faber everyday. I really enjoyed their accompaniment.
Now, I am feeling sad and lonely. I won't be able to see them for at least 2 years because they say that they will go to visit me in Japan during my graduation. Sob... sob...!

Not enough time! 時間がありません
It will be good if I can stop the time. I am very busy lately because there are a lot of things to prepare before going to Japan。I heard from my friends that things are rather expensive in Japan, compared to Singapore. Thus, I bought a lot of things here.
My baggage now weighs 52kg, overweight by 2kg. What should I do?
もし時間が止めることができたらいいですね。日本へ行く前に色々な事が準備しなければなりませんから、最近とても忙しいです。友達の話ではシンガポールに比べて日本は物価が高いそうですから、ここでたくさん物を買って行きます。
今私の荷物は５２キロ、２キロ過重です。どうすればいいですか？

First Posting 私の初めて書き込み
I created this blog so that I can record down the feelings and activities prior to and during my stay in Japan. On 15 Sep, I will be going to Japan for studying. I will be staying in Minami Uonuma city, Niigata prefecture for two years and studying MBA in IUJ (International University of Japan).
In this blog, I aim to post entry in Japanese also, other than English. It is difficult, but I will try my best. In this way, I would be able to practice and improve my Japanese writing skills. If there is any mistake, I would really appreciate if you could inform me. Thank you!
